OK, to get you started and to wet your appitite let's focus on why you really wanted to visit the Big Island - It's the BEACHES!
![]() Anaehoomalu BayA spectacular beach within walking distance of Waikoloa. This popular, peppered, gold-sand beach, fringed by a grove of palms and backed by royal fishponds still full of mullet, is one of Hawaii's most beautiful. It fronts the Waikoloa Beach Marriott Resort and is enjoyed by guests and locals alike. | ![]() Kekaha Kai State ParkKekaha Kai State Park is perhaps one of the most awesome beaches. Note that there are two parks with the same name. This isn't the one with a long road on lava, but the one to the left from the Veterans Cemetery. Beware! Since the locals take the sign down you need to be on the lookout for the road across from the Cemetery. | ![]() White Sands Beach ParkWhite Sands is just a five minute drive from Kanaloa at Kona. This is one of the most popular bodysurfing beaches in North Kona. Site of the Annual Magic Sands Bodysurfing Championship. Lifeguard services during daylight hours. |

![]() Hapuna BeachRated the "Number one beach in America" by Conde Nast Traveler. Hapuna Beach is a long stretch of pristine white sand that is just like sugar in your finger tips. Just off Queen Kaahumanu Highway, south of the Hapuna Beach Prince Hotel, lies this half-mile long crescent beach. | ![]() Kaunaoa BeachWe just love this beach. Get there early as parking is limited. Kaunaoa Beach on the Big Island tops a list of America's best beaches by "Dr. Beach". A coconut grove sweeps around this golden crescent, where the water is calm and protected by two black-lava points. | ![]() Kahaluu BeachWow! One of the best snorkeling areas in Kona and great for beginners. This is just a short walk or drive from Kanaloa at Kona. You will be treated to viewing sea turtles which frequently rest and feed during low tides. Picnic area and lifeguards on duty during daylight hours. |
![]() Punaluu Beach ParkThe Punaluu Beach, also known as the Black Sand Beach, is located between Naalehu and Pahala in Hawaii. The sand on the beach is made black by basalt which is created by lava flowing into the sea. We also have our own Black Sands Beach right by Kanaloa at Kona just a five minute walk down to a small bay by our unit. | ![]() Green Sand BeachWell where else can you walk on green sand? No where else in the world! Not an easy trek but you will find enterprising locals that will provide you a 4-wheel drive to the beach. | ![]() Tide PoolWell we can't tell you every place to visit... you will just have to explore the Big Island and all it has to offer.
